There are places that seem created specifically to turn an important moment into an unforgettable memory. Passo delle Erbe, in the Dolomites, is certainly one of them.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

Luca and Caterina come from Tuscany and had a very simple wish: to take something with them that truly captured this moment in their lives.<\/p>\n\n

To do so, they chose the Dolomites and one of the landscapes I love photographing most: Passo Erbe, facing the unmistakable Sass de Putia.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

No constructed sets. No need to transform the mountain into something it is not.<\/p>\n\n

Just the two of them, boundless meadows, rocks, wind, light that kept shifting, and that feeling of being miles away from everything for a few hours.<\/p>\n\n

A wedding in the Dolomites, amidst nature and freedom.<\/h2>\n\n

Photographing a wedding at Passo Erbe means, above all, giving space to the landscape.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

Sass de Putia completely dominates this part of the Dolomites and constantly changes its appearance throughout the day. You need only move a few meters, wait for a cloud to pass over the sun, or simply shift your vantage point to find a completely different scene before you.<\/p>\n\n

And that is precisely what I was looking for in Luca and Caterina’s story.<\/p>\n\n

I didn’t just want to take beautiful photos in the mountains. I wanted them to be able to look at these images in ten or twenty years and remember what it was like to be there together.<\/p>\n\n

The wind.<\/p>\n\n

The light.<\/p>\n\n

Walks in the meadows.<\/p>\n\n

Laughter between one photograph and the next.<\/p>\n\n

And above all, that sense of freedom that only certain places can offer.<\/p>\n\n

Luca and Caterina: from Tuscany to Sass de Putia<\/h2>\n\n

Luca and Caterina chose to travel from Tuscany to the Dolomites to create a unique memory\u2014something that felt truly their own.<\/p>\n\n

Passo delle Erbe was the perfect setting.<\/p>\n\n

During the shoot, we let the landscape and the spontaneous interactions between them guide the photographs.<\/p>\n\n

My approach to telling the story of a wedding always starts here: observing before intervening.<\/p>\n\n

I don\u2019t like turning a couple into models, and I\u2019m not looking for an endless sequence of poses. I prefer to provide direction when needed and then wait for what happens in between.<\/p>\n\n

A movement.<\/p>\n\n

A glance.<\/p>\n\n

A laugh that breaks a more serious moment.<\/p>\n\n

A hug that lasts a few seconds longer.<\/p>\n\n

It is often precisely these small moments that become the most important photographs.<\/p>\n\n

Photographing a wedding in front of Sass de Putia<\/h2>\n\n

Sass de Putia is one of those places that offers endless photographic possibilities.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

You can let the mountain fill the entire frame, making the couple appear tiny against the grandeur of the Dolomites, or move closer and transform that same landscape into a soft, subtle backdrop.<\/p>\n\n

During Luca and Caterina’s wedding, I looked for both things.<\/p>\n\n

On the one hand, very wide shots in which the landscape reveals where we are.<\/p>\n\n

On the other hand, there are more intimate photographs, where the Dolomites almost disappear and only the two of them remain.<\/p>\n\n

It is a balance I often seek in my wedding stories: showing an extraordinary location without letting the place become more important than the people I am photographing.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

Because a photograph might feature one of the most beautiful mountains in the world in the background, but if it tells no story about the couple, it remains nothing more than a pretty postcard.<\/p>\n\n

The light of the Dolomites changes everything.<\/h2>\n\n

One of the things I love most about photographing in the mountains is the unpredictability.<\/p>\n\n

The light can change completely in a very short time.<\/p>\n\n

And that is exactly what happened with Luca and Caterina, too.<\/p>\n\n

Brighter moments alternated with softer, more dramatic light, constantly shifting the colors, atmosphere, and perception of the landscape.<\/p>\n\n

Instead of trying to fight these changes, I prefer to use them.<\/p>\n\n

To me, a wedding story doesn’t necessarily have to consist of a hundred identical photographs. It can be delicate one moment, cinematic the next, and fun just a few minutes later.<\/p>\n\n

Coherence does not come from every photograph having the same lighting.<\/p>\n\n

It comes from the same eye that observes and tells the story.<\/p>\n\n

Why choose Passo delle Erbe for wedding photos<\/h2>\n\n

For a couple dreaming of a wedding in the Dolomites, Passo Erbe offers something special.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

It\u2019s not just a beautiful location.<\/p>\n\n

Here, the landscape allows for the creation of widely varied photographs without the need to construct complex sets: meadows, woods, paths, and\u2014above all\u2014the constant presence of Sass de Putia.<\/p>\n\n

It is a location that works particularly well for those who love the mountains and desire images that are natural and elegant, yet deeply connected to the local area.<\/p>\n\n

But the point isn’t simply to arrive, find a beautiful mountain, and snap a picture.<\/p>\n\n

Getting to know a location means understanding how the light changes, which spots work at different times of day, when to move, and\u2014above all\u2014when to stop.<\/p>\n\n

These are details that make a big difference in the final result.<\/p>\n\n

Luca and Caterina\u2019s project is exactly the kind of work I love to create.<\/p>\n\n

An incredible place, certainly.<\/p>\n\n

But above all, two people who decided to dedicate time to each other and transform an important moment in their lives into something that would endure.<\/p>\n\n

In the end, it wasn’t simply a matter of taking photographs in front of Sass de Putia.<\/p>\n\n

It was a matter of telling the story of Luca and Caterina in the Dolomites.<\/p><\/p>\n\n

The way they are together.<\/p>\n\n

Their expressions.<\/p>\n\n

Lightness.<\/p>\n\n

The quietest moments.<\/p>\n\n

And everything that happened between one photograph and the next.<\/p>\n\n

Because when they look back at these images, my goal isn’t for them to simply think:<\/p>\n\n

I would like them to think:<\/p>\n\n
