Advice from a local photographer for couples, elopements, and unique portraits
Seceda is undoubtedly one of the most iconic locations in the UNESCO Dolomites, with spectacular views, jagged ridges and incredible light that changes throughout the day — perfect for a unique and memorable photo shoot.

📍 How to get there and park
The easiest way to reach the top of Seceda is via the Seceda Cable Car in Ortisei (Val Gardena).
- Park directly next to the cable car station.
- Tickets can be booked online or directly on site; we recommend doing so in advance, especially during peak season.
💶 Approximate prices for the cable car and gondola (ascent + descent) are approximately €52 per person (single ride ~€39).
⚠️ Rates may vary depending on the season and promotions such as the Gardena Card.

🥾 Preparing for the shooting
From the top station of the cable car to the main panoramic points it takes about 15 minutes on foot, following the signs from the summit.
➡️ Hiking shoes are absolutely recommended for easy movement on alpine trails and high-altitude meadows.
📸 Locations for extraordinary images
🌄 1. Panoramic view towards the Alpe di Siusi
As soon as you get off the cable car, you’ll have an incredible view of the Alpe di Siusi and the great Dolomite massifs: this area is perfect for first shots of the photo shoot.

Following the path on the left from the upper station platform, you access one of the best and least known entries on the Seceda ridge.
- Going down a few meters along this path opens up a perfect area for unique couple shots or portraits away from the crowds.
- The view here is spectacular, with sharp crests and majestic backdrops.
📍 3. Panoramic viewpoint on the way back from the cable car
On the way back, take advantage of the panoramic areas in front of the cable car station: ✅ optimal light, especially in the central hours of the day ✅ wide panorama of the Dolomites skyline ✅ possibility of creating ✅ shots with a wide sky and dynamic clouds ✅
📅 Timing Tips
- Early morning is perfect for soft light and clear views.
- If your service is scheduled later, try to take advantage of wider areas away from the crowds, such as the path to the left from the summit.
