A proposal planned for months… lasted only a few seconds, but unforgettable.

There are moments that cannot be repeated.
A marriage proposal is one of them.
When Jack contacted me from New Zealand, he had already made up his mind: he wanted to ask the woman he loves to marry him surrounded by the beauty of the Dolomites.
All that remained was to choose the perfect location.
For me the answer was immediate:
The Alpe di Siusi at dawn.

Why Alpe di Siusi is one of the best places for a marriage proposal in the Dolomites

The Alpe di Siusi is one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Dolomites.
Endless Alpine meadows, ancient mountain farms, the majestic Sassolungo in the background, and an atmosphere that changes completely with the first light of day.
At dawn all is silent.
No crowds.
No noise.
Just nature slowly awakening.
This is precisely why I almost always recommend sunrise for a surprise proposal. The light is soft, the colors are incredible, and you can experience an extremely intimate moment, far from the crowds that crowd the Alpe di Siusi during the day.

The morning of the proposal
We met when it was still dark.
The road was completely deserted as the mountains slowly began to take shape.
The weather forecast wasn’t the best.
A few minutes before Jack and Emma arrived, the sky was still covered in clouds, and for a moment, we thought that dawn would never come.
Then something magical happened.

As often happens in the mountains, the weather changed in a matter of minutes.
The first rays of sunshine pierced the clouds, illuminating the Dolomites with an incredible golden light.
One of those moments that every photographer dreams of.
For a few minutes the entire landscape was transformed.

The perfect surprise
Jack started walking with Emma through the meadows of Alpe di Siusi.
She didn’t suspect anything at all.
From afar, I documented every moment without interfering, letting them experience that magic as naturally as possible.
Then Jack stopped.
He looked her in the eye.

He took the ring from his pocket.
He knelt down.
And he asked her the most important question of their lives.
She said yes.
The tears, the smile, the hug, and the emotion lasted only a few seconds, but those are the seconds that will stay with them forever.
And that’s exactly why I love photographing marriage proposals.
There is nothing built.
Nothing forced.
Only real emotions.

After the proposal
After giving them a few minutes to enjoy that moment together, we began the couple photo shoot.
We strolled through the meadows of the Alpe di Siusi at a leisurely pace, taking advantage of the wonderful morning light.
These are always my favorite photographs.

The first smiles after the yes.
The emotion of looking at the ring.
The hugs.
Happiness.
The awareness of having just begun a new chapter in your life.
At that point there is no need to ask to smile anymore.
Emotions do everything by themselves.

How to Plan a Marriage Proposal in the Dolomites
Every proposal I photograph starts well before the day of the shooting.
Together we plan every detail:
- we choose the perfect location;
- we identify the best time based on the season;
- let’s avoid the most crowded areas;
- we construct a credible excuse to get to the point of the proposal without arousing suspicion;
- I choose the perfect spot to hide in to photograph everything without being seen;
- We always have a plan B in case the weather changes at the last minute.
Organization is key.
The proposal lasts a few seconds.
Everything else is preparation.
